engine swao RB20DET
hi you guys,
i have recently bought a 200ZR fronb clip with everything intact including the RB20DET. is the conversion a straightforward one? i have stripped the engine bay of my 84 300 which caught on fire in the engine bay. can you give me some pointers on how to get the engine and gearbox out? please give me as much info as possible as i am a novice:). thanks and regards bardan:) |

RB20DET conv
i am in australia and a local business specialising in nissan Z's had one in stock. i was actually looking for a normal 84 turbo halfcut to replace the burnt engine, etc in my car but he suggested this so here i am.
cheers mate |
Don't know why they suggested the RB20. It's a smaller motor, but whatever.
Since you have the front clip, you should be set as far as what you need. Just rip all the old stuff out and install all the new stuff. Since the majority of the people on the Z31 message boards I'm aware of are in the US (and most have never even seen an RB), you're going to have to go it alone on this. Unless you find someone locally or can read Japanese. |

Don't worry about all the who ha about smaller engine :fenforcer: the Rb is realy good as a everyday cruzer with 2lt economy then the boost on the turbo kicks in for a kick ass ride. well done with your swap, I hope you recieved the full wiring loom with the engine as you will need it to install into the car. Also will have to change engine and gearbox mounts, I am going to get a friend of mine to fabricate some up for me in the new year. keep in touch as I will be very interested how you are going in your swap. cheers :038: |
not to nitpick, but this thread is over 3 years old, and none of the folks who posted in it are members anymore.
