Customer Service Assistance, Ignition Wiring
I am an assistant manager for Kragen Auto Parts in San Diego, CA. I had a customer come in last night with an issue that I was a bit lost on. He owns a 1985 300 ZX, non turbo. Issue at hand, plug for the distributor is missing, both ends. The wires coming out of the distributor are: Red, Black, White, and Green (four wires). The wires that connect to those are different colors: Black w/ white stripe, Green w/ black stripe, solid black, and green with a yellow stripe. (once again, four wires).....Which wires go where???? all of my books show constant color coding throughout, basic theory would have the black meet up with black, but he says that this is not the case.....any help would be appriciated, I want to get this guy helped out.
Thanks
Dustin

the different colors probably mean its just not the origional harness, I would follow them back to the other end and see if the color coding on the next harness over is origional... if that doenst help try going here and downloading the z31 manual and look for the wiring
If you have a distributor on the back shelf, that might help. I know at Autozone we had spare distributors for sale in the back. If that is not the case, have him look up the manual..ie the hanes you sale might be of help. Well, those are just ideas, dont mind me
