Angry Breaking loose o2 sensor

I am trying to replace the o2 sensor in my 84 turbo Z. I am having trouble breaking the thing loose. Is there an easy way to get the thing out? I tried using a deep socket with an extension but it wouldn't budge.

Any suggestions would help. If it comes down to it I'll pull the damn exhaust manifold but I would really rather not.

use some good penetrating oil like Deep Creep or PB spray. Don't use the shibby "WD40" That's like water!

They'll come loose alot easier if you get the motor up to operating temp. Then spray on your penetrating oil. The heat causes the metal to expand.

i know on my TT when I putting Down pipes on..i used a butane torch to heat the metal bung up to get the metal to expand. I was afraid of damaging the O2 by using a big 'ole pry bar.

Soak with PB Blaster, Aerokroil, or something like. Use 1/2" drive ratchet and extensions and a breaker bar because 3/8" tools will likely break.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I didn't think to heat the area. However, after using PB Blaster, a pipe and a hammer, I broke the old one in half. After that what was left on there came right off with a socket extensions and rachet.

Car runs much better with new O2 sensor in.

Good thing you did not heat it up though, you could have broke it.
