9" wheels on a Z31

I race an '88 SS in Chumpcar and want to run a wider tire (255s). The recommended rim size for this tire is 9", which is significantly wider than what I'm running right now (7.5" I think).

According to Z31.com, it seems like 9" wheels are a possibility, especially using a ~99-2003 mustang cobra rim. Table here: modifications:wheels [Z31.com]

Can anyone attest to putting a 9" rim on their Z31? I'd like to avoid dropping a bunch of money on the rims and tires if there are issues with it. Having someone say "yes, they fit on my car" would be great. Also, any suggestions of other cars which have offsets/bolt patterns which work are great.

Thanks for your help.
