88 Z31 Project -ID this Mystery switch???
Hello Folks, I am Patrick from Minnesota I just joined this forum today so greetings everyone. Last week I purchased an 88 Z31 NA Manual and I love it. It will be a great project car for me and my two son's. My first was a 79 280zx 2+2 so I have had the Z bud for years! I have also owned 3 CRXs but that's a whole other ball of grease.
I was hoping someone on here could help me solve a mystery. While cleaning out the car I happened upon this switch just sitting on the floor (in the hatch area) Anyone know what it is for?

That's a run of the mill lighted toggle switch which can be bought at Autozone or any other car parts joint. I think someone had wired an extra circuit somewhere or bypassed a relay/switch and used this instead... Start hunting for 3 female spade connectors (which are not factory) they should lead you to the answer of wth it controlled / activated.
To the best of my knowledge (which is limited at the moment on Z31's but not on cars in general...)

Aftermarket toggle, like one I used for direct-to-battery power line to my outboard stereo amp. Good because it can be installed in one of the switch blanks on the center console just behind the mirror control toggle switches. See 'em? That lets you cut power to your amp/speakers when you want.

Thanks for the advice! I'd hate to think something was missing. There is no radio in the car and it looks as though there was an aftermarket unit in there at one point do possibly something to do with that.
