86 300zx T Burning out??
I have an 86 nissan 300zx turbo which has around 200 horse power...now i just bought the car like 3 weeks ago....and i'm wondering why it can't burn out with that much horse power....if i disable the rev limiter with that work?? or is the only way to just get some performance mods?? and if so any suggestions for someone with limited funds....any help appreciated!!!

First off have you given it the much needed tuneup?
- plugs
- air filter/new intake
- oil/oil filter
- plug wires (check to see if they need replaced)
- cat converter (make sure it's not plugged)
- fuel filter
and so on.. Also how many miles does it have? You may want to take it and have a leakdown test done on the cylinders to see what kind of shape it's in. Also I'm sure you could install a boost gauge to make sure you are reaching peak boost on the turbo.

yeah i just got a tune up on it a couple of days ago and had all of that checked and it's all doin great....new breaks and alternator and everything... it has another 170 000 kilometres on it... a boost gauge would be really cool, how much do you think it would cost to get and get installed in canadian currency?? and any other suggestions??

boost gauges are around 100$ us, you should be able to install it yourself not that big of a deal..
You can also do a intake for 100$, and from what I understand since you have a single exhaust there are a lot more performance options for the Z31 and cheaper than my car (Z32 TT).
I'm sure someone else will have good suggestions on how to turn up the boost, avoid detonation, and other things in general on the Z31..

5-speed or auto? How are you trying to do it? You should rev it to around 4k (or more) and drop the clutch and have some nice smoke if you have a 5-speed.
Can't disable the rev limiter unless you replace the computer.
Simple fact: mods cost money. Gotta pay to play. What are you going for?
...and from the ashes shall rise a new hope. And it shall be known as "Z". And it will be good.

well my car's an auto and i've just been on a straight or slightly uphill road and sitting at a dead stop then flooring it...i heard it's hard on the transmission if i put it in neutral and rev it up and then shift into drive so i haven't done that.. well i don't wanna spend more than a thousand right now....

i also got an 86 non turbo and it can smoke the **** out of the tires. but its a 5-speed. does it feel like its laking power or just wont spin em'? if its laking power the run your self diagnosis. mine lost all its power once and ended up being something to do with its computer. the computer and electronics are ****ed up on these little cars. confusing as hell to me. also ive never had a problem w/ automatics neutral droping them but it is reall bad on em .

Find a parking lot, turn the wheel as far as you can (but dont hold it past where the tires go and burn out your PS pump :P) and just give it gas, it should burn out, especially if its a open rear. Bleach works great for making tires slippy!
If its an auto and you dont want to neutral drop, just power brake. STOMP the brake, STOMP the gas, then let off the brake. FYI, *built* automatics can be neutral dropped. There is also some race transmissions with either a stall torque converter that lets the engine slip up to a certain rpm and wind up the torque converter like a spring (and let big turbos spool up before launch) and/or transbrakes that engage 1st and R at the same time so you can rev up against the torque converter at a staging light, and then release R *VERY* quickly and take off. It even has the Reverse lights on while it does it! Very fun thing. I've seen many a car pull a full wheelie with one of these, giant slicks and enough raw power.
With a manual, rev, drop clutch, and floor it. Just dont do it on expensive tires!
