Question 1985 Digital Dash Troubles

Greetings - I just picked up a cherry, Aztec Gold, 50,000 total miles 1985 ZX. Two great road trips after purchase and I am having digital dash problems. It is intermittent, sometimes on and working fine, sometimes totally dark. My local mechanic says the power module is on the fritz, he tried to re-solder, he can't get a replacement, and is wary of rebuild services. I am obviously not the first Z31 owner to face this dilemma, but the past links are old…what do I/should I do now?

if it works sometime then it isn't shot there is a loose or poor connection somewhere. find a new mechanic and/or check ebay for replacement. Does he really know how to solder many people don't altho they think they can. they use a 200 watt gun and burn up the board. 15 watt electronic duty solder is what you need.

You may want to check the attached link for some possible diagnostic procedures and websites. Good luck.
