Is Your Timing belt installed RIGHT?
I have an 84 Turbo. reinstalled my timing belt 5 times before i got it right! according to the factory manual, it says to line up the dots on the cam with the dots on the back plate right. Well the haynes manual says to line up the dots with the lines on the belt. Well i did the haynes manual way and the engine ran fine until u go over 4000 rpm then it vibrates. But it idles ok. Checked with the timing light and i could never get it to retard enough. But it ran fine, drove around like this for months but it still vibrates after 4000rpm? According to the book, supposed to have 40 or 43 teeth( can't remember which) between the cam marks and i did. but still vibrates over 4000 rpms. Well come to find out this is wrong. You should line up with the marks on the back plate. I was riding around with the Driver side CAM advanced ONE TOOTH! And it made the car run hot, not over heat but ran HOT! Has Anyone had this problem?
