Seems when I turn the wipers on when the car is cold and it is equally cold outside..I have always gotten a squealing noise when the wipers make a pass on the windshield. Once the car warms up a bit, the squeal goes away. But, the wipers have never been the smoothest aspects of this car...Even upgraded (non cheap) wipers do not pass entirely smoothly..
