this is whats up

the reason why i posted a lot of things on my transmission is because there is a noise a rattling noise coming from it the noise is coming from the area wear the drivshaft connects to the trans it sounds like it isnt coming from the part closest to the engine anyways i think thats were the noise is coming from i asked a kid at school who knows a bit about cars and he said it could be the "throwout bearing" he said i would need a new clutch could some one pinpoint the trouble on tthis subject and how much a shop would charge to do whatever. i was also wondering about the transmission fluid and if it were low would it be making the noise and how would i know if the fluid was even low could someone help me out

it could be the throwout bearing, they tend to start making a noise when they're on their way out. if you do need a new clutch, that would be a good time to replace the throwout bearing, and the input seal on your tranny, and the rear main on your engine. you shouldnt be losing tranny oil unless you have a leak. if you don't know when the tranny oil was last changed then it's probably time to go ahead and change it.

I'm assuming you have a 5-spd if your friend says it could be the throwout bearing. automatics don't have a throwout bearing.

if you take the car to a shop for a new clutch and stuff, their first step will most likely be to tell you to bend over...

you're looking at about 300$ (at LEAST) for parts and labor.
it is a pretty big job though that is difficult to do yourself if you're in a hurry or lack the room and tools/equipment to do the work.

yes it is a 5spd and the noise happens while in neutral idling and while driving the only time it doesnt is when its in neutral and i have the clutch pushed in
