my time has come, i pulled the motor on my 87 for a new oil pump and as luck would have it the driver-side manifold is cracked, so on with the turbo!! (pics coming soon)

parts i need still..
1. 87+ turbo ECU
2. turbo oil feed line
3. stock metal coolant lines
its still in the crude stages of prep, but it should be put back together as soon as i can get the parts..

stock 88T auto oil cooler are BIG, these oil cooler designs could compete with todays more modern designs easy..

Looks just like the 280zxt oil cooler. They aren't all that big. Lookie at these:

Just hook it up w/ the stock lines.

hoov100 08-07-2007 11:56 AM

thats the problem, i had to cut the lines to get it out, but if i can get the oil filte block i could just use some braided SS line i have laying around, when i compare them i dont use size, i use the fact that a cooler with denser fins wont alow air to pass through as easily, but it seems that once again nissan did its homework when they designed it.

NismoPick 08-07-2007 11:59 AM

WTF... you cut the lines??? Why didn't you just remove them properly by unscrewing the connections?

hoov100 08-07-2007 12:03 PM

because it was only the short line lines that go from the edge of fender well to the oil cooler.

That doesn't really explain why you cut them instead of unscrewing them...

hoov100 08-07-2007 12:31 PM

no tools, plus you pay more at the junkyards when you call on their guys to help you..

nismo619 08-07-2007 08:20 PM

i have a 1984 300zx turbo im having to force to sell now ill sell the hole car as is its a junk parts car but the interior is completely redone for 150 dollars title in hand

hoov100 08-07-2007 08:26 PM

i think one experience with a parts car is enough for me..

Las VegaZ 08-07-2007 11:12 PM

I may have the ecu. And oil line. Let me check.

hoov100 08-08-2007 12:06 AM

im not so worried on the oil line as i am about the ECU.

hoov100 08-09-2007 10:27 PM

well shit, my oil seal is leaking like all living hell, but once theres oil on the bearing their is NO shaft play, only a oil leak..

260zturbo 08-09-2007 11:02 PM

might be time to rebuild the turbo

hoov100 08-09-2007 11:26 PM

it helps if i put the oil in the inlet instead of the outlet too, results in the morning!

hoov100 08-12-2007 04:49 PM

timing belt parts are ordered, plus a huge summit order, on the way..

Goofyz 08-12-2007 05:02 PM

Speaking of shaft play

are those turbos the same as the ones on the z32? i got a couple laying around that are in decent working condition

hoov100 08-12-2007 05:24 PM

i dont think so, i think the z32 turbo's are t25's..

akz31 08-13-2007 04:38 PM

Yep z32 has twin T25 snails
