Starter Issues

So my starter seems to only work when it wants to. My engine wont crank at all sometimes and other times it will start right up. I can still turn on the car by popping the clutch but that's the only way it will turn on when the starter doesn't want to work. I checked the all the connections to the starter and everything seems fine. What do you guys think? Starter?

Just took it out and it seems that my last oil change did a number to it. The whole starter is covered in oils... I cleaned it up and see if that would do the trick and it didn't... Oh well. Just waiting now from the new one to get here.

LOL, Just how does a oil change cause the starter to be covered in oil? Did you not put the filter on right or did you pour a quart of oil down the valve cover?

I think I'd be more worried by just how that much oil got on the starter than why it wouldn't start. Fix the leek first??

Because the oil filter is right over the starter and it dumps out when you take it off?

Unless you turn your engine on it's side to remove the filter, I don't know how it's possible to remove the filter without getting some oil on the starter..
