recalls

What were all the recalls on an 84 300zx n/a.

Re: recalls

go to http://z31.com and read the section entitled Recalls/TSBs. The only one you will ever be able to get is the one about the fuel injectors, so it's not even worth looking at.

Nope. Again, The only one you will ever be able to get is the one about the fuel injectors

Re: recalls

Go and ask your local Nissan dealer if they can switch out your headlamp switch for free, let us know how long they laught at you. Do you read the entire responses before you reply?

I don't know if they'd laugh at him... probably more of a bunch of dumb blank stares. Then, when he left, they'd all get together and laugh.

Re: recalls

There was a recall on 84s to replace the headlight switch on the steering column because it was manufactured with corrosive grease, which corroded the contacts and rendered one or both low or high beams inoperable. You should still be able to get and Dealer to replace the switch for free. that was off of z31.com

Re: recalls

I think most of the recalls had expiration dates to them. All except the injector thing, because that was a safety thing (being it could burn your car to the ground... while you were in it)

Re: recalls

First: I already told you that the only thing you'd get done would be the injectors if they hadn't already.

Second: TSB is not the same as a recall.

Finally: I seriously doubt your car was MANUFACTURED FROM JULY TO SEPT. 1983

Now, next time you ask a question, I suggest you try READING THE ENTIRE MESSAGE.

Now, as for my experience:
I've had one of my Z's for over 8 years and 110,000 miles (it now has 215,000 miles on it). I stopped taking it to the shop to get worked on 6 year ago because I was in college, and I would rather have spent money going out than giving it to someone else for doing the work I could just as easily do. There is nothing YOU can possibly tell me about these cars that I don't already know. And there's probably still lots I have to learn.

Re: recalls

Yeah, AZ has a lot of ZX's compared to most people, and he is very smart when it comes to working on them.

My favorite
Again, goto a Nissan dealership and tell then that they should replace your headlamp switch since its a 'factory defect' and see what happens; or even better, do it yourself.

injectors

AZ, is there anyway that you can tell if the injectors were already done? Sorry im new to the Z world and I do smell gas from time to time. Could it be the injectors or something else? BTW I have an '84 blue Z.

Thx in advance

I called my local nissan dealer and gave them my VIN and MADE them check for the recall work done on the car in their computer. they were like what the hell are you asking for a car this old but they did as I kept pushing them, and they were able to tell me....try that and let us know.

Call 1-800-nissan1 and they can check for you - have your VIN handy. If it's been done already they can tell you who did it , when and how many miles were on the car when it was done. If it's been done, then try this - look at the injectors and make sure the area around each is dry. Then run the car for a while and then look again at the injectors to see if they look wet. If so, it could be leaking o-rings. You can get o-ring seal kits for them from o-reilly's for about 2-3 bucks for each injector. If you replace them, go ahead and do all of them while you're there. Also take note to replace gaskets for anything you have to take apart to get to them (you should NEVER reuse gaskets - that's just begging for trouble).
