Re-shining Stock Rims
 

Newcomer here. I recently picked up a 50th anniversary Z31 that I've been cleaning up. The rims have a bit of corrosion, and I couldn't help but wonder if there was a certain chemical people use to get rid of it.
I figure abrasives/polish could get it off, but the rims are textured with circular grooves as can just barely be seen in the close up photo, and I don't want to lose that.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Clay bar for the really light stuff followed by SONAX, McGuiar's, etc wheel cleaner.
I'd try some rubbing compound on the larger spots. Looks like you may have to get out the sandpaper for some of the spots. Then it's repaint and clear coat.
Otherwise, it's strip, sandblast, powder-coat and reseal.

I'll try the clay bar and SONAX. I definitely don't want to repaint or powder coat them though. Much prefer the stock brushed metal look.
