overdrive
above 45 mph, where overdrive should kick-in, noth'n. RPMs jump 500, but no gear shift; also, release of gas pedal reduces RPMs but tranny doesn't slow down accordingly.
What's up with that?!? Any help would be appreciated, the tranny shop wants $1200 bucks, and won't give me a straight answer. |
Re: overdrive
dunno why it's doing that, but 1200? that includes a new or rebuilt tranny right?

Re: overdrive
Any shop that won't give you straight answers should be avoided. First thing I would do is get a tranny "tune-up". Just removing the pan and cleaning the screen and installing a new filter will solve many auto tranny problems. I haven't owned a car w/ auto in awhile but when I was growing up friends told me about doing that. Most times it works...

Re: overdrive
not shifting to overdrive can be caused by the chts i believe. car has to be warm before it'll shift.
you can bypass it by engaging the cruise though. try that. |
