Oil filter annoyance

Oil filter annoyance
Hey folks.
I just became the proud owner of an '86 300ZX Turbo. So far, so good.
Since my girlfriend is going to drive it a bit and I feel like she oughta know a little more than how to press the pedals, I figured I'd go out this weekend and show her how to change the oil.
I even got her a set of ramps to make it all nice and super easy for her.
I figured I'd get under there to make sure that I know what I'm doing instead of looking like a moron while I'm trying to show her how to do it.
Anyway, I'm scratching my head to figure out the easiest way to reach the oil filter. It seems like the gaps between the cables and the frame there are too small for me to reach my hand through. I can probably reach it through the top, but you can't really see what you're doing from that angle.
So I thought I'd ask you guys -- what's the easiest way to get that puppy off of there?

Get a set of the jawed oil filter pliers if you need them and go from the top. If you stick your hand down the side of the motor on the left of the fuel filter you should feel it. Also be sure to put oil in the filter.

Welcome to ZDriver bro!
Haha... yeah, nothing like going to a local lube shop to have 17 year olds monkey around with your car while you're not looking.
Check out the downloadable FSM for all maintenance / repair info: www.xenonz31.com/reference
PS... it's mandatory to post pics of your gf too.

Thanks, NismoPick. The forum feels like home -- my other car's an MR2 and mr2oc.com uses the same software.
Pictures of the girl will definitely be forthcoming, but she's gotta get a whole lot greasier first.

Anyway... I use the slip on type of oil filter wrench that you attach to a socket wrench and get to it from the top of the car. Very simple.
