No HiBeams
New to the group and Z's.
Started working on the 'issues' with my 'new' 1998 300ZX non-turbo. The most puzzling to date is 'no high beams'. When I switch to high beams - the headlights go out - all the rest of the running lights are OK. The sealed beams are both OK - and I have checked the relays in both the box in front of the PS strut tower and the area beside the battery. When the switch for high-beams is actioned - the relay beside the battery works. Are there any fusible links or other relays I should test? Thanks for any help John 86 300ZX |
Re: No HiBeams
Sorry my car is a 1986 - a wishful typo.

Re: No HiBeams
When I was having trouble with mine, I ended up replacing the turn-signal/hi-lo stalk. It cleared up the problem but wasn't cheap. I've since heard that you can disassemble the high/lo stalk and clean the connectors and get it to work for just the investment of your time. Hope this helps.

Re: No HiBeams
Sounds like I should try and clean switch when I do the instrument cluster. The speedometer is displayed about 5 time actual speed - but odometer is OK. Likely the gauge itself - not the pinion or cable.
The fun of learning a different car - more at home with Accord and second-generation RX-7s !!! The car itself drives great - pulls well for 16 year old car. My issue list is slowly getting shorter - got the fuel gauge working today. Performance exhaust on order - and UPS should be delivering oil pressure sending unit tomorrow. Thanks for the replies |
Re: No HiBeams
Thanks to all.
Got a used switch from eBay - and fifteen minutes after arrival I've got hi-beams. Thanks Again John PS Now only have speedometer problem - likely the cable. We'll see. |
