New here. Got the injectors out, what now?
Hello everyone,
New to forum, but not new to the Z31, i have owned 3 over the last 20+ years.
ive owned my current Z for about 5 years now, NOT a daily driver. Only driven on nice days in the summer, around 80k original miles.
Sadly it has not been driven for sometime.
Sometime ago i realized gas was spraying out from one of the fuel lines (one of the short ones connected directly to the rail). took me forever but i finally got the line out and replaced, pain in the ***. I go ahead and start the car, running and idling just fine. Jump under the hood to check my work... Gas is now spraying everywhere! from the back of the engine, and around the injectors... smh.
do my research, turns out this is a known issue, even a recall.
Today, after a very long period of procrastination, i got the upper plenum, fuel rail, injectors out.
Now ive worked on cars on and off since i was a teenager. i think ive only ever taken a car to a shop twice.
This was definitely on the more difficult side of any project ive done.
Turns out the injector lines are in fantastic shape, the culprit was the small fuel line in the back between the 2 rails.
Finally to my question.
Since i have the engine disassembled to this point, what else should i do.
Now the car has always run really strong, turbo hits great. this has been the only issue ive every had, even starts right up after sitting all winter.
Like i said this is not a daily driver, i can take all the time i want.
so what other things should i check the condition of? Maintenance?
Im already planning to replace all the vacuum lines.
Also, should i just go ahead and redo the injector lines?
I dont want to kick myself later, and have to take it all apart again.
ill just stop there, this post is already long enough. i tend to be pretty long winded.
Thanks in advanced for any informative responses.
