New to the forum and new to the Z!
 

Hello friends! I just recently picked up an 87 Z non turbo 5 spd. She runs pretty good, has a horrible high idle problem, and an exhaust leak at the manifolds. So I pulled the motor to find 6 broken studs. I'm currently in the process of removing said studs but fear that two of them will not come out. So I might need a set of heads or do the vg33 hybrid on her. I have plans to turbo the car too. Here are some pictures of the car, shes clean, believe was repainted and the kid who had her before me lowered and put 18s on her. She looks great and rides great but i need to set the camber on the rear wheels.

Broken manifold studs on a Alum head are easy to get. Just get a washer and a bolt over a broken stud and do a little welding. As long as you cover up what you dont want slag to it your ok. The heat will also help when extracting the broken stud.

Ill definitely try 260, but I already broke two good extractors trying to get these beast out!! haha.

I am sorry for your drive that you are facing the common idle problem but the drive is looking pretty good. I love the color and also the wheels are looking great on the car. Overall the car is very nice. Thanks for sharing. But sorry to say I am not able to tell you the solution of your problem.
