I just finished my top end rebuild on my Z (to the head gasket) and now that she's all together again there is a sputter that comes and goes frequently. It's almost as if it doesn't fire on a cylinder 'bout half of the time. But the thing that gets me is that its not consistent. It also has new plugs and wires as well as new gaskets from the heads up. The ECU is only throwing a Load sensor code which is probably because I left the power steering pump drive belt off.

I would also like to add that it gets better (less sever and less frequent) when the engine is warm. This car is an 86 NA 5-speed.
I will be taking a second look at the timing tomorrow to see where it stands.
