My 84 300zx AE

Hi I'm new to ZDriver but I'm a big fan of the Z series so it was only a matter of time before i joined. This is the second Z I've owned. My first 84 N/A got into a fender bender with an idiot in a low rider and his steel bumper made residence in my engine bay and caused more damage then the car was worth. This is my second that I managed to find for $500. It was sitting for 2 years and the owner was convinced it would never see the road again. I threw 1000 into it and got it up and going but the transmission was beaten to a pulp(FS5R90A transmissions are pretty easily destroyed as i hear) and the Engine is in pretty bad shape. I found a engine and transmission I plan on swapping into it and adding a stand alone fuel management system. I'm not sure if I'm even getting a good deal but at this point it doesn't feel like a have any affordable options anyway. I would love to hear what you guys think and any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated.

this is the link to the engine and transmission i want to swap in:

Let me know what you guys think. I feel like I should keep it stock purely because its an anniversary edition. I want this car to be in Car Shows when it turns 30 yrs old and is finally considered a classic but at the same time I want to see it to its full potential.

Ugh. Don't waste your time with the 2 liter RB. If you're going to get one, go all the way with the RB26. The VG30 has way more potential than the RB20.

Then assuming that I stick with my VG30ET, Any suggestions on what direction I should take to get the full potential of my stock motor? My biggest problem is my 1,500-2,000 dollar budget at the moment.

Get a vg33e block, intake, exhaust, boost controller. Bam! Should be within your budget.
