Re: Mag sizes

16 x 7 inch looks the best in my opinion. 17 inch is a little large for the style of car that a 300ZX is. You want a little bit of noticable rubber to give it a sports car look.

Re: Mag sizes

I'd have to disagree, the turbo comes with 16x7 mags stock, and I"m looking into 17 or 18" rims for my car. especially if you have lowered or are planning on lowering your car. as to the width, I'm not sure how wide you can go, I"m working on that one for myself, I"m looking for 8 1/2 " rims, but we'll see what I find. With low profiles like 40 or so, it'll look real sharp! You can see my stock wheels (16x7) in my profile, not a great pic, but you get the idea.

The Beast is back and badder than ever!

Hey guys go for the 17" wheels & tires. I have a 88 300ZX with 17x8 TSW Hockinhiem rims on it and I personally think it is the perfect size. I have Yokahama AVS Intermediate (255/40/17) tires and there is no rubbing. My car is also lowerd with Motorsport springs. I have forgotten the offsets but the 17's really set the car off.

Re: Mag sizes

Stock offsets are 30mm. Are the TSW's also 30mm offset's?

Re: Mag sizes

Stock wheel offset:

1. 84-85 all(except AE): 30mm
2. 86 non-turbo: 10mm
3. 86 turbo: 20mm (AE is same wheel)
4. 87-89 Turbo: 30mm
5. 87-89 non-turbo: 20mm

But once you change the width, you have to adjust the offset to compensate for the difference.
Stock 15" wheels are 6.5" wide. Stock 16" wheels are 7.0" wide.

...and from the ashes shall rise a new hope. And it shall be known as "Z". And it will be good.

Re: Mag sizes

My 17" TSW's fit perfect. The folks at discount tire direct did the calculations for me. I used to know what the offset was but since it's been several years i couldn't tell you what mine are. I do know that what AZ_ZBUM said is true. If you go wider with the rim you have to factor that in when you order the rims. I would call some of the wheel distributors to see if they could help. As for the 18" wheels, they will work but you have to go with a lower sidewall say a 35 or 30 depending on the witdth of the tire. The down side to that is poor ride qaulity and it is ohh! so easy to bend a rim if you hit a surprise pothole.

Re: Mag sizes

The TSW Hock 17x8 is a +40 offset isn't it. I know that in a 17X8 the 98-00 Cobra wheels fit, they are a +32.
