Hi all
I recently bought an 86 Z. It needs some work done on it. Anyone know of a mechanic in the central/north Jersey region or Rockland County NY? Would like to bring it to someone with some Z experience.

Hey fellow Jerseyian, I'm in central NJ. I have 2 '86 Z's and an '85 and I do all my own work to save money and because "mechanics" don't know anymore about the cars then you or I. Most "mechanics" today are really not mechanics and just parts replacers. They hook up a computer to the car and the computer tells them what to replace. You can't hook up a computer to the Z and most "mechanics" don't want to bother with your Z or mine.
What kind of work do you need done on the car? Is is a turbo? Manual transmission?

Appreciate the reply. I hear you. My problem is i'm an idiot when it comes to working on cars. Mine's a na manual. What kind of work do i need done is a good question. There's a hole in the exhaust which needs to be fixed. Then it really needs to be gone through. Full service, change the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, tune, alignment, tires, radio is broken and the list goes on and on. It runs and drives just not well. Fun stuff. Where in central jersey are you located?

 

Ive been working on my 3 Z's for a year and half and I've learned enough that I think I could be of some assistance. I've done the timing belt (all three cars), removed and reinstalled heads, water pump, oil seals, valve cover gaskets, radiator, hoses belts, a/c compressor and condenser, pulled a trans and reinstalled a trans, clutch, headliner, brakes, radio and speakers, etc...I'd be happy to help you do the work on your car or offer any other assistance.
