Quick and cheap.....

Go to a trim shop and purchase some padded upholstery material in your choice of colors. They should have a big assortment (plain, diamond pleat, or rolled and pleated). Cut it to fit, then velcro it in place.

That should look nice, satisfy the "creeper cops", and be easy to remove if you prefer the bare metal look.

The DMV? That's ridiculous. Anyway, what color of interior parts are you looking for? I might be able to help you.

Hrm, perhaps in your state there are some weird requirements about having interior trim.

Currently the trim in my '84T 2+2 hardtop consists of door panels, seats, a steering wheel and an e-brake handle. My gauge cluster (digital) is propped on the dash support above the steering wheel, and my cluster switches kinda dangle from there.

I just dare them to say anything about that! I've satisfied all the legal requirements for a current inspection sticker so they can kiss my a$$ if they don' t like it.

part of the reason for this is I've just put the car back together and haven't had a chance to dig out all the black interior pieces to go in her.
