Help dummy lights!!
 

First I smelled something funny. Smelled like varnish off the alternator. Then I seen the raditor and "lights" dummy lights came on. I did the headlights down mod. I thought that the "lights" dummy light wasn't supposed to work with the mod. Anyways, both the lights go on as soon as I hit the gas in and out of gear. and turn off after 30sec or so at idle. I checked the voltage (brand new high amp) high 12's with no draw, low 12's with everything on. Also A/C compressor turns off when the dummy lights turn on and switches back on after the lights turn off. I am guessing something with the alternator. Voltage regulator? But why does it throw the raditor and "lights" lights and not the battery light? I have the Haynes, Chiltons, and the nissan service manual (z31 supplement II) I haven't had a chance to look yet, but I will tommorow. Does this sound fimilar to anybody? Any little bit of info will be greatly appreciated.

I'd go with the alternator.

yep it was the alternator. Still confused with the idot lights though.

yep it was the alternator. no lights come on now.
