if you would really like answers that would help you and avoid flames give the following info when you post: year of car, n/a or turbo engine, stick or slushbox, digital or analog dash. Most of us can tell by the year what model you have ie 85T is a turbo z31. Z cars come in many flavors and they are all different. example 84,85,86 Z31's pretty comparable. there were changes in 87,88,89. in addition 300ZX can refer to two completly different cars the Z31 and the Z32. No mindreaders here the more info you can post the more likely you get a cogent useful answer. The cars with L engine (straight six) changed almost yearly from their introduction. A 240Z and and a 280Z have similarities but they can also have wide variance.

A lot depends on what z you have. TRy Courtesy nissan. they might have one. depends on you got digi dash or analog.

Thanks roger. I have an 86 300 canadian build. Non turbo n/a analogue dash. It reads full when the tank is full. But after 60 miles it drips quickly to half a tank and by the time i go just over 100 miles it drops to a quarter of a tank. I have filled it at that point and have only needed 6 gallons to top it off. My fuel semder only has three wires coming off the top of the unit when i looked at it.

the old style sender with the flat bar and carbon tracks inside an AL tube goes bad because either varnish or carbon track worn on the bar. you can try just pulling the unit out of the tank and running it up and down manually (usually does nothing helpful). dipping alcohol to dissolve varnish may work but iffy. If courtesy still has the unit buy that and be done with your problem. look in the fsm for how to pry out the old unit. they sometimes stick and you need to put a little muscle on it to move it.
Or just use mileage as when to fill up. Cost nothing just pay attention.

Thats what i am doing now. I figured at around 300 miles i should have about 3 gallons left and shpuld fill up. I had already pulled the old one and manually slid the float up amd down amd cleaned the contacts but yeah like you said nochamge. What about the after market ones that are said to fit that year car? If i can find the same one new yes definitely will buy it and put it in.
