Dyno Results!

86 300ZX Turbo
104k

Well I cant say Im surprised or anything...I knew the car didnt feel like it was making alot of power, but it runs just fine. its strange how I just lose all my power. anyway, here are their theories as to why I got what I got:

1) My Turbo could be starting to die, thus being more of a restrictor than a booster.

2) engine needs a rebuild

Any thoughts?

You have major problems. Something is way wrong. The powerband is fairly normal. Was your clutch slipping or did the guy not floor it or what?

Concur. That looks like the output of my S10's 2.2l engine.

yes yes yes....I know its crappy thats why I posted it and wanted some advice. Im going to have a compression and leak down test done, and have the Turbo checked. we will see what happens after that.

Sorry, had to pick on you there. Not much puts out less than a Chevy 2.2

Plugged catalytic converter is another small but possible problem.
Any other symptoms besides the low power? It's below what a NA puts out so I'm guessing it's like you said it's an issue with it's breathing. Turbo, compression, etc. Leaky valve or something that doesn't affect all cylinders would result in it running rough and you said it runs ok otherwise. Guess I'd put my 2 cents on the turbo though.

well it feels like its missing slightly at idle and full acceleration. I guess im used to the way it runs since Ive never ridden in a "healthy" Z31 I have nothing to compare it to. it was running pretty bad when I bought it but Ive changed sensors, plugs wires, belts, alt, water pump etc etc and it runs sooo much better than it used to. trust me this is a improvement. just another step on the latter I suppose. yes Ill be hollowing out the cat very soon since its the cheapest/simplist step to take than go for the engine tests after that. thanks for the advice!
