Driver side mirror motor seems bad

87 Zx I thought the mirror motor was totally shot but, it works in only 1 direction as opposed to 4.directions.
The passenger side is fine. So, power is getting to the motor. Perhaps it can be cleaned and fixed.

Anyone know how to do this? How to pull it out? I see there are screws behind the mirror that seems to hold
the mechanism in...

Any helpful ideas appreciated.

I am feeling good because I replaced the antenna mast and got the side marker light in..just little things
to stop the trend of having many little things not working.

There are 2 motors ...bet its connection problems
or weak. ground. try running it with a jump battery tapped into the wires

the glass clips in , you may break that getting it out today though

As I say, the motor works in only one direction but does sound week.
Can you suggest the best way to get at the motors?

Should I take the mirror off to work on it?
I presume there are two or three screws holding it on.

Thx

As I remember I had to pull the door glass to get to one nut..try the connector ,may need to redo the connection under the door panel
on old cars the copper wire to brass connector starts to oxidize limiting amps

OK thx..so you are saying the connection going out to the mirror is on the door?

Does not seem too tough!

I reseated the two plugs..but no luck. The plugs looked clean Do you happen to know where they go after they enter the door back into the car..i.e. working from the door through the jamb into the car. Perhaps the switch at the console went bad?

I could check for power at the plugs to see if I am getting voltage but that would mean pulling it all apart again..and those plugs are very tiny getting leads down there
couold be a challenge.

Try jumping with a alternative power source at the multiplug , if it works then use a multimeter to see what the switch is doing , volt wise which doesnt mean you have the amps needed
