Crankshaft sprocket rear plate
Im doing the front crank seal on my 86 non-turbo due to the rear plate behind the timing belt sprocket being chewd up. I ordered a new one but not sure of the installation. Does it just free spin on the crank ? it does have a key way but the crank sprocket is only keyed on the front of the sprocket.
How who it lock into the sprocket
Thanks in advance for the help

that is what seals do. it is why they are called seals and not pulleys, sprockets or drive gears. while you are in there did you replace the timing belt, water pump and that little piece of hose you can't get to that is under the fpr. go for new belts hoses and a thermostat if you are that far along.

yes i have done it all cam seals , bypass hose, water pump , oil pump , hoses belts ect.
not talking about the seal but there are two plates on the front and rear of the crank sprocket. The front one is key along with the sprocket not sure how the rear plate sould be
