Cat-back setup & exhaust
I am just about to install my new Apex N1 exhaust, but I'm unsure whether or not to change my factory cat-back piping, and if so, to 2.5 inches or 3 inches. My friends who had changed their piping in their Integra's and Civic's sometimes complain of backfire after doing so. Will this happen to my '89 Z? Is it worth the extra 50 bucks? Thanks, let me know what you think.

Well, I finally had my exhaust installed (for very cheap too, I must say...only $40 to have it welded on and they did a good job). But since I didn't hear too many people supporting the idea of me changing the entire piping, I just left it alone. Even so, it sounds really good and not too loud. I'm very pleased with it! Maybe I'll change the cat-back and header at a later date...

Wish I could hear it. I have been trying to pick a good exhaus set-up for months, but I seem to be having problems finding something that won't make my z sound like a farting honda.

It's a shame that you live all the way out in the middle of nowhere (South Dakota, right?). Otherwise, you could check out how it sounds for yourself. Who know, you may like it...or you may think it sounds like a farting Nissan! :p |
