buying an 84, 85

Hey all,
I'm looking to buy an 84, 85 300zx that i hopefully plan to do up pretty wildly. The problem that I have though is money. Is it worth doing up a non-turbo? (How well can they be done up?) or should i just blow all my money and buy a turbo which i would not be able to insure?

What do you mean "wildly"?

Non turbos can be made fast. Don't let anyone tell you differently. But you can make a turbo so much faster for so much less money.

Initial cost of a non turbo vs. a turbo is almost the same. Shouldn't be more than $100 difference for two cars in the same condition. And have you called around about insurance? I pay $18 difference every 6 months for my two 84s. One is an NA with no t-tops. The other is a turbo with t-tops. The difference is in my comprehensive. The liability is the same.

You may think that a turbo is going to cost more, but to get anywhere near the same amount of power, you will have to spend so much more on the NA that any insurance difference will seem like pennies.
