boost controller and boost gauge 86 z31 turbo

Well last night i install a boosy gauge on my 86 nissan 300zx turbo. So when i start it up it reads -25 approx. Psi at idle. So i was wondering if this is normal or not?? And of course when driving the car under race car conditions, the gauge eventually going up the 6ish psi.
So now the second part of this posg is... has anyone notice how impossible it is to install a boost controller? Theres literally no space barely enough to put in a hand. And instead of this "j" hose that goes from the turbo to the wastgate, there is some sort of Y peice connecting the turbo and wastegate and i dont know where the other hose is coming from. Anyways if you have advice or tips i would be glady grateful to hear them thanks

OK, check out this recent post:

84zxt has 3 connector nipples on turbo, how to install manual controller

and let us know if it answers your questions. We put a boost controller on my '86T in under 15 mins. When you get it in and working, be careful not to over-boost. You can blast out gaskets and seals real easy that way... mucho headaches will follow. :frown:

How did you install your boost controller so fast? :S I bet you had really long needle nose pliers. why does my turbo have a three way connector when others only have a simply j shape one?

All the hoses were already there and in VG condition. All we did was insert the controller into the existing hoses. The controller body mounted high on on the side of the shock housing.

If you could post some pics to explain what you are dealing with, it would help us figure it out.
