Battery power draining

What engine componet would drain a new battery and prevent the engine from running? I recently installled a Bosch alternator 2 months ago was told that could be causing the drain by not supplying enough amps. Should I go with nissan's alternator. I have a 1986 na.
Thx.

Re: Battery power draining

have the alternator tested. autozone type places often test them for free. It's not uncommon to have a new one that is bad right out of the box.

It was tested and checked out ok. Why after a couple of months would this happen. Would a short possibly cause any of this?

Re: Battery power draining

I just had the battery fully charged and auto zone tested alternator and was putting out negative amps. When I took this alternator to BAP auto parts 2 months ago,it tested fine.
Could there possibly be something between the alternator and battery causing this problem? I have no problem with changing it out, just want to be sure I guess.
