Automatic Transmission
Hey guys, so I have a 1986 Z31 Turbo automatic, and last night I was getting on the on ramp and had the car doing about 90 km/h. The car started shifting randomly then I had no guts. It was like I was in 4th gear all the time. If I pushed the pedal the engine would rev but I wouldn't go any faster. I had to idle it home. I checked the trans fluid and it seemed to be at the right level, it was on the H line and the car was hot after a long drive. I started it up this morning and it seemed fine. I can't drive it around the block until my dad gets home (have my L >_>) Has anyone ever had problems with this before?
I know the trans has been replaced once, but I don't know why it was. Also, I've noticed that in drive it has almost two selectors. I'll try to get a video and upload it. From drive if I bump it forward a slight amount the car will gear up and drop RPM while driving. But from a stop it's gutless. Then putting it back into drive it has all the guts, but sits at high RPM while doing city speeds (3500) Any help would be amazing. |
The trans is going out and will be expensive to repair/rebuild $15-1800. Do a 5 speed swap, that's the only real solution the the Z31 auto trans problems
