84 anniversary giving me a head ache!!

So heres the story. I picked up this 84 anniversary turbo that was sitting for 5 years. Did a FULL Tune up fluids plugs wires cap rotor you name it I did it. Ran my ecu codes and replaced what it said too. New idle up, cold start, tps, and maf. But its still running like crap. It takes forever to start up and when I finally get her started it takes forever to idle up. When I hit the throttle it wants to die. So I figured its the timing. Set it back to 10* but still no luck. I NEED HELP! any suggestions?

Welcome to ZDriver!

Fuel pressure?

Just put a brand new regulator on so it should be fine. I replaced all my fuel lines put in a walbro 255 and cleaned out all my injectors one by one. Im going to try a new ecu today and see if that clears anything up.

i had the same issues, tried 2 different ecus, turned out both were no good, the 3rd one worked for me, started and ran like a champ after that.

Just tried a new ecu and a maf. Starts up for about 3 seconds then dies. Im so lost with this one. Owned 6 z31s and never ran in to this problem

The second ecu I tried when I go to run codes both lights flash. Does this mean the ecu is shot or is that code 44?

Just tested all my sensors and the cas was bad so I ordered a new CAS so hopefully that will fix everything.

Have you found your fault yet?

So have you figure this out?

I have a 84 AE Turbo with the exact same issues and I have cleaned/replaced all Harness plugs and sensor/switches that were corroded and. I did have a bad MAF and replaced it along with the CHTS and harness. I have replaced both banks Injector harness and cleaned each injector terminals. I have removed and Clean/Tested the FICD solenoid, Idle up solenoid and Air regulator all are in working order. I also used dye electric grease to seal off moisture for future issues.. I smoke tested and found no leaks.

I have read about this being a open loop issue. It takes me around 5 to 10 minutes on a good day to get this car to where it runs. I assume it is going into closed loop and then she run fine. I have yet to fine tune the MAF that I have replaced with a used one. I believe that will not solve this issue and am looking to resolve it without replacing everything. I do believe it is possibly a ECU failure. But for what I have found a used ECU to cost I can get this one repaired for less if it is a ECU issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my 86 T coupe has set for 4 yrs and I am getting it going this yr.
my 1st concern is getting good oil pres through out ,did you have it?
crank for 5 min after it reads on a guage is my way
I have seen a few that did not get oil to 1 main or rod at start up = big head ache
also check the turning torque required
I would check compression and spark then , possibly it has jumped valve timing or slow/ sticking valves.
you can also sort of check fuel injector flow ( it drifts out of the cly )
