Why not send it to the trans shop your self ? sounds like they are giving you the near worst case senario price but if it a clutches and reseal fix it ,your still likely going to pay the $$$ price.
One problem with doing the trans that way is if it goes out later, the 1st shop will say it is not their problem because they just R&R-ed it and the 2nd can claim it was not installed right voiding a warranty. when you say blew up what happened . locked up or spins free have any gears? pump running ? if the planetary gears / pump jammed and blew you would be better off trying to find a used trans . |
The First Shop, the Z shop will Mirror the Warranty of the Trans Shop. 3 years 30000 Miles. So they will cover the R&R labor is something goes wrong. They gave me the option of letting the Trans shop open it up and just repair the problem, but it could still be $1000, I figure might as well replace everything inside and get a complete warranty.
I was driving it on the Freeway and I thought I noticed the Trans slipping. I knew something was a little off. I do not drive the car very far at all, but on this day I drove it 45 Miles on the Freeway. Then when traffic stopped, I braked hard, then gave it gas and nothing, just revs. so I turned the O/D switch off and it engaged, then I made it to the first exit, pulled off then nothing, no gears at all !! When the Z shop opened it up it smelled really bad, like it burned up, they said a bolt came loose and did some damage. |
