84 300zx, Good Deal?
There is a 300zx 5spd, t-top, non turbo, 130k about 15 mins from where I live. The lady who is selling is asking $2500. It has been sitting there a for a while now, so I'm sure I could get her down to $2000.
SO yeah, my question is that a good deal? |
IS it a good deal? is the car in good shape? does it run/drive? is it a rust bucket? is the interior any good?.....etc

As for being a rust bucket, no. There is a very minor place probably 2" long and 1" across. Nothing bondo can't fix ;) Interior looks great though I saw it in person. |
check the underbody for rust

Soooooooo, what do you guys think? |
i wouldnt pay more then $1500 i paid $900 for my 87 z31 in almost the exact same condition.
|
Cool. I wish I could find a car that cheap lol.
My 280zx [in my sig.] was 1400. I tink I might have paid to much? But yeah, I what's the best way to go about talking her down? |
Does anybody else want to share what they think? Pleeeeeeeease =]
|
for a Z31 in anything other than near perfect shape and non turbo, 2000 is to much. i say 1500 or less. and as for whats in your sig, seems to be in good shape, other than it being a 2+2 ;) so it seems like a fairly solid deal, although i woulda tried for 1k even.....

i got my '87 NA for $1800. sold it for $1300.
|
I paid $200 for my 86 NA. No radio, needs a clutch. Runs good. Drove it home. www.Craigslist.com is full of 84-88 NA's for $500-$1200 in Washington State. And some overpriced NA's by dealers at $2500-$3500. After checking craigslist in your area, It seems No. Carolina has higher prices than here. If you like it and can afford it, go for it.
|
Sweet. Thanks for all the input.
I guess if she really wants to sell it she would go for 1.5k or less...I hope =p I shall report back when something happens.. hopefully something good lol. |
Some people are just cheap asses and buy POS cars for $900. ;)
If the car is in good condition and doesn't need anything, then $2500 isn't a bad price. But since it needs paint, I'd be looking more towards $1500 to $2000. And make sure the timing belt was done recently. |
whatever you do don't use bondo it taints the cars soul
|
Ha! Man I hate bondo. I used it when I was helping my dad fix his camry lol
|
Most all body shops use a little filler (Bondo). But it should never be a substitute for metal work.
|
I think this week I'm going to test drive it.
My mom is like, you just bought a car, why can't you be happy? =p Parents... sheesh. |

But nah, I mean, I would sell my 280zx to get that one. Enless anyway wants to make a donation to the first bank of caleb... |
stay away from the 300zx untill you know more about the car your working on and personaly i wouldnt pay $1200 if it has noticable body damage that requires some sort of dent puller and any ammount of body filler.
if bondo taints the cars soul then what do you use? lead? |
i bought it that way and it haunts me everytime i look at my car
|
Are the 300zx a lot more complicated to work on?
|
Than what?
An S130? A little. An S30? A bit. A Z32? Much simpler. |
