I don't know that anyone sells the entire units assembled. Likely a bit expensive if they do. I just replaced my cartridges with KYB units. Not a bad job, had never done it before on a 300ZX, mine is also an '86, non-adjustable suspension. The second one took maybe 45 minutes, first one longer as I had to figure out the process. I also put in new mounts and strut bearings, protective boots and sway bar endlinks. Might as well once in there. In hindsight I wish I had also done the lower balljoints, those are also past it, but I only noticed once I had the strut out. But I can do those later. Ordered everything from AutohausAZ online, the cartridges were only $31 plus tax each, all the other parts came to $88. The old shocks were definitely past it, one was leaking badly and had almost no resistance to it. I assume there is a tech write up on how to do this, you do need some tools and tips. I borrowed spring compressors from Autozone. Also did the rear shocks (KYB, $40 each) as those were also really gone, and the ride is transformed (duh). Good luck!
