noise when shifting....
 

Alright I own an 1986 n/a and its got kind of a problem that no one can seem to diagnose for me...maybe someone here has had this same problem and can help me out.

When I go out to my car and start it up for the first time (either day or night), I start it, and usually have to put it into reverse because of where I am parked, and when I put it into reverse there is this noise, sort of a clunking noise (not quite clunking but a little higher pitched than that)...Its been going on for a while and no one can help me. It seems to be comming from somewhere in-between the transmission and the engine....any help would be extremely appreciated....or maybe someone could point me in the direction to have to diagnose it myself....

has anyone checked the gearbox?
i had a clunking or rattling noise in my last car, and the mechanic said there was something in the gearbox rattling around
