Z31 1986 turbo GLL Dashboard Analog Ilumination Light Problem
 

Hey everyone i having problems with my z31 dashboard illumintion lights there is a big mess with the wiring and went turn on the headlights the dashboard illumination lights wont turn on.
I have been experimenting with the instrument cluster wiring and went i connect one of the illumination wires from the it to the 12v of the ignition key system the lights on the dashboard turn on without having the headlight on . but as soon as i turn the headlights on then the light dies out.
i have a haynes manual with the wiring diagrams but then do i have to remove the whole dashboard to get into the wiring of does lightbulbs and does that mean i have to remove the speedo cable ?

My initial guess is the switch itself is the problem. You only need to remove the steering wheel and the column covers to replace the switch.
