Dash Restoration.

I am needing info on restoring the dash for my 88.
I was wondering if you can dye vinyl, when I say dye I do not mean
the spray on stuff.(I used that in my 87 and it came out great).
I mean actually dye it in a waterbased solution the way you would die clothes.
and what would be the pro's/cons about this?
The dash is black, but bad badly faded, and I want to restore it to black,
so there is no major issue with going from one color to another.

Or if there are any other ways to get vinyl pieces looking
new agian point 'em out to me!

Thanks in advance.

They may dye vinyl in the factory when making it but all good restoration work involves spraying it with a special vinyl paint. Even the pro dash restorers use a spray on vinyl paint so don't be concerned about using it.
