Just bought an 84 300zx. I am new to this but there is an interior part missing and I can’t figure out what it is. Picture attached. Can anyone tell me what it is so I can replace? I
It’s by the lights in the ceiling. Thanks.
You should state whether your car has a GL (analog dashboard) or a GLL (digital dashboard) trim level. Your car has a GLL trim level. 1984 GLL models have both digital instrumentation and automatic climate control.
The missing part is an interior temperature sensor which is part of the automatic climate control system. It’s an overhead sensor that uses a small fan to circulate air around the sensor and measure overhead temperature. It's located right behind the two overhead map reading lamps shown in your photo.
A previous owner of your car probably removed it because the fan became noisy which is a common problem with them.
Where can you buy one? At a dealership but it's probably NLA (No Longer Available) by now, z31 web site classifieds, ebay, or a junk yard.
