Whats Best For It

My Z will be here very soon. Whats Best For It? Oil wise. Gas wise. A/C coolint wise. Tell me all. For those who don't know. It's a 83' 280ZX 2+2, Auto, Non-Turbo, Non-T Top, Fatory Inline 2.8. "It's been rebuilt"

Oil, I run 10W-30. It's good all around climate oil for where I live. Gas wise, alot of people prefer to run off the the premium. But if you can't afford it, it'll run just fine on the 87 bottom grade. A/C comes as R12. If the system is in good shape, keep it R12, it works great. Coolant wise, well just head down to the autoparts store and grab some 50/50. I don't remember how much it takes though. Spark plugs stick with the NGK, they've worked best for me. If you go Bosch, I prefer the single platinum, and definitely don't go above the platinum two's or you're just waisting your money. Other than that just keep her maintained. If you want performance parts just let us know what it is you're looking for. There are a lot of people on here with modified Z's that would be more than willing to give you their input. And you lucky bastard, you found a non t-top car thats not a '79. I envy you Those are rare, I've yet to find one and I've been looking.

haha yeah

well i actually have a 79 non turbo non t-top but it has a custom sunroof put in it.. its cool but i dont like it some times. and acutally im looking for getting upgrades, yet i dont want the car to appear or sound much differnt than stock. i want it to b a sleeper. though it is quite fast alrady i blow the doors off 4 bangers like nothing, i just want to b able to drop it and have them put to shame. i wana keep it N/A .. turbo would b nice, but then agian there is blow off, i dont want any more sound than i need. right now its completly stock with i belive 140 hp. or around there. not sure wat stock 79ZX is.. mine is also a 2+2 not good for anything more than adding more weight.. grr but anyways if anyone can point me into some direction on how to get more hp with out changing apperance too much.

dont buy the 50/50 premixed.. its a rip off.. just buy a bottle of antifreeze and half it with a previous bottle or pour equal amounts of water/antifreeze when filling.. i just find thebest way to save a buck or two.. i use SAE 30 for oil.. i dont prefer multiweights too much.. unless your out there in the blazing scorching ARIZONA!! 120* whats with that ****?? haha.. anyway.. if youre running stock just get regular grade gasohol.. premium costs a pretty penny and i obnly use it cuz i am running turbo with slight boost increase.. higher grades are for preventing knock or ping.. dont assume just cuz you add a couple numbers here means that HP is instantly gained..

if you want my advice.. do a complete tune up on it.. change plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil, brake fluid, timing adjust, tranny oil(if its auto), differential fluid, coolant, and recharge the a/c if ya can.. change the thermostat and any hoses/wires that are getting bad.. check your fuses and evrything just a complete system checkover.. at least if you got all the simple **** outta the way you know that it isnt going to be something so minute to cause problems now or in the future..

Don't forget the vaccum lines. Replacing them is cheap, relatively easy, and can make a big difference in driveability. One small vaccum leak in the wrong place can ruin your whole day.

Rod speaks the truth. Those old rubber vacuum hoses will harden, get brittle and crack in the craziest places.

the guy has had the motor rebuilt. the trany, plug, and plu lines are only two years old, things like valcume lines, water hoses etc.. are only 5 years old. don't know if a/c has been recharged. As soon as it gets in my drive way, i will have pics up for all to see.
