Update on my project '83 turbo
Heres an update on my project 83' 280zxturbo: I've worked on it for the past 2 days straight have tried all the suggestions and checks you guys have given me unfortunately I still haven't found the problem. I did a complete tune up,timing..is ok, cleaned the throttle body, AMS, And Electrical Connections Clean Them Up And Used Dielectric Greese replaced vaccums and FPR,pcv,AR, I also added ISo-HEET and STABILL to the fuel system
After I did all of that I started her up she iddled perfect sounded great no vibration smooth purred
but after she warmed up 15 min I hit the throttle she hesitated and died
. I took the brand new spark plugs out again and they where floded with gas. As soon as I punch the throttle it floods the spark plugs and dies. The only thing that I haven't replaced are the injectors and the fuel pump. So what I'm saying is
. Let me know what you think.

There are still a bunch of possibilities, but the most likely is that your AFM is toast... Have you tried re-adjusting it and cleaning it up like the "How to rebuild your AFM" thread suggests? Even if your AFM is toast, doing that should help a lot.

Yes I cleaned it up llike the " How to rebuild your AFM" thread suggests but I dont know how to re-adjust it. I couldn't find no regulator or nothing to adjust, so if you know how to let me now, Thanks.

Sensor
On the top of the block near the head between spark plugs for 5 and 6 (roughly).
It's the only sensor in that area so it shouldn't be hard to find. If I had a pic handy, I would post it...

the afm adjust is pretty easy. ill walk you thru quick like, so ya dont have to read and interpret. first remove black side cover off unit. look at it. it has a large circular gear (made of plastic, usually black) at the top left, there is a little tab with a phillips/ hex head. while holding the gear, loosen the tab a little (just enough to move the gear) then tighten it a few teeth. in your case try 10 teeth. tighten the little tab. IF you let go of the gear. try placing it back where you started, and adjust it carefully. i usually adjust this while the car is running, so i can hear the change, and can up the idle as i go. try this and report back, it takes a few tries, but it will get you rolling till you can get it thru emmisions for testing, or if ya got cash, dyno tuned. dont make it too lean, youll be sorry. in daylight, there should be a little black haze behind the car, not much.
