It's not good to mix rods and caps Skully. Each Rod and it's cap are machined as a unit and isn't meant to fit another rod. Not even one from the same engine. And the L28 rods are especially bad for mix and match because they don't leave you much room for machining to correct a mismatch if it's too out of proportion. Just some advice. I think you'd be better off trying to source two whole rods with their caps just to be sure they'll work. Good luck on that though. And new ones are frickin' expensive since they're forged (yeah Nissan ).

Oh and one more thing Skully. The turbo and NA rods are identicle. So they don't have to be rods out of the turbo motor which should make you hunt easier. The pistons are the only internal (moving) part that's different from the NA.

While looking through ebay for all the latest and greatest stuff I can't afford I found these for a really good price. And hell at worst, atleast two of em gotta be good and then you'll have spares to sell or whatever. Here's the link Skully:

Me too... unless maybe the 81-83 non-turbo rods were 'stronger' than earlier rods and also used in the Turbo blocks? cuts down on production of two kinds of rods from that point on.

I dunno. I'm just a fabric cleaner

Yeah it's the same forging. The L18, L26 and L28 all used the exact same connecting rod. The forged L28 rods and crank can handle enormous power levels. I'm not talking an 800HP drag monster but 400HP easy on the stock rods and probably alot higher with a properly balanced assembly. Now if they just would've forged the pistons too we'd have one bullit proof motor . And I'm pretty sure the only difference between the 81 L28E and the L28ET, other than pistons, was the cooling jackets around the cylinders. And 82 and 83 blocks all have the same water jakets. No block(internally or externally) was stronger than any other either.

Right. We're talking about the F54 stamped blocks. Non turbo and turbo used that casting from 81-83.

Well, I have this junk L16 in my garage. Too bad those are the L24 style rods or I'd just give them to you. I just sold my extra NA L28 block about 5 days ago.
