Turn signal light question

Ok so i checked every wire under the steering column that goes to the turn signal and none get any current my hazards dint work at a point but i cleaned the inside and they work now. But my turn signal flasher and the switch dont get current. I checked my fuse box switched my fuses but the turn signal fuse is the only one not getting current even after switching them. I checked the wiring diagram but it doesnt show the fuse box.So i would like to know were the fuse wires get current from and i would also like to know the color for the turn signal fuse wire coming out of the fuse box.

Fusible Links

When all your fuses appear good, then you need to check your fusible Links, they are in a box near your battery, your FSM will show you exactly where. Fusible Links are made of a lower gauge wire than the circuit they are protecting, when you experience a high current on a circuit the Link will melt. The plastic cover on the wire is designed to not melt when the wire does, so it may appear intact, best to check continuity with a meter or test light. here is a link to what you may need, not all local parts stores carry the Fusible Links.

The turn signals won't work if the hazards switch isn't COMPLETELY off. Check the hazards switch...

i have checked all the links and relays in the engine bay with a test light about a week ago but that wasn't it all of them work.Nismo what do you mean the hazards need to be completely off i disconnected the hazard switch because it got in my way but im not sure if that thats completely off

ok i fixed it i cleaned the grounds in the engine bay and i forgot that the hazards need to be connected for the turn signals to work but when i connected the hazards to checked them the signal lights worked so i guess it was the ground on the block that we painted and was also dirty

well they stopped working again lol what could have caused it to stop?

Wigggllle the Hazard switch back and forth slowly until you get signal!!See at what point your signal works in the hazard switch and then leave it a lone, don't miss with it.It's a 30+ years switch.....

lol ill try it its so delicate

worn out

Those switches are the source of a lot of problems, the contacts become worn and corroded and stuff stops working. Taking them apart and cleaning will help.

hey predator z your first post may be the issue after all i didnt notice till now but one of the fusible links is toast so ill buy one soon

ohsemix Oct 8, 2014 02:18 PM

so i made a link out of regular wire and it burnt up again. Its the ACC fusible anyone know what might cause this i dont have power anywhere after it burnt out

NismoPick Oct 13, 2014 12:27 PM

Using normal wire in place of a fusible link is a quick way to see your car go up in flames... I'm surprised only that replacement wire burnt up. Must have been a small gauge?

Look in the FSM and check all components that are powered by that fusible link.
