Those Z's are pretty Tight, I wish I could find one of them. Wide body ain't my fave, but #2 look's sweet to me. If I found one of them, I would have to get it.

ya know... I've seen a lot of 240 - 280z's in the junk yards w/ sun-roofs. I guess that was a popular aftermarket idea for a while.

I'm loving the widebody and blinker/fog light combo on those ZX's.

Anyone remember the FIAT X1-9? Little wedge shaped thing...Had a targa top. I used to own a bunch of those things and I actually had one where somebody had a sunroof installed into the targa top... that was pretty cool.

Rod.

Here's a pick of an X1-9 to refresh your memory. Aside from the almighty Z car, this may have been the funnest car ever built. Mid engine, RWD, 4 wheel disc brakes, 4 wheel independant suspension... and all of that in 1974!

I'm sure that somewhere in a box in the deep dark abyss of some closet, I have some pictures of my old Fiat's. The one in that last picture obviously wasn't mine, and it was very highly nodified from it's original form. If I come across some pics, I'll put them up. Here's what the "stockers" looked like...

Yeah, but they are getting increasingly harder to find parts for. There's still a couple of places to get them, but as demand goes down... prices go up.
What year is your X1/9? Is it the 1.5 litre or the 1.8?
4 or 5 speed?
Many years after Fiat abandoned the US market, The X1/9 was actually brought back and sold as a "Bertone" X1/9. Those later models (87-89) Finally got some added horsepower and some creature comforts (power windows etc...). Those are very hard to find but if you can get a hold of one... it's the way to go.

Bertone was the coachbuilder responsible for the styling and partial assembly of the car in Italy. They were so fond of the design that they wanted to continue marketing the car. The X1/9 chassis is to this day an engineering marvel. I won't go into detail, but if you're interested, look up the history... it's pretty impressive. Bertone is also responsible for the design of nearly all early Lamborghini's (Including Countache) and a hand full of Ferrarri's and other European exotics. In other words, That little Fiat had an impressive pedigree.

I had a buddy back in the 80's that had somehow managed to get a 3.0 litre Alfa Romeo Veloce V6 into an X1/9... Oh My God!!! It was downright scary. But, the car is so well balanced that you almost can't go beyond the handling limitations of the car with a good set of tires and a couple little suspension tweaks. They are the ultimate adult sized go-kart.

those definitely aren't as nice looking as our Zs, in stock form anyways, but they look like fun little cars nevertheless
