Strange problem with '81 280ZX

This is a really odd problem.

Whenever I take corners at speed (and that's a LOT :) ), my car just dies. The electrical meter says that I've totally lost power. The only ways I've been able to get out of this problem are:

1.) Pull over and wait, it eventually re-starts
2.) Drop the clutch (If I have enough speed), for some reason, this pulls up the electrical meter again, and the car re-starts.

Now, I just had my clutch re-worked. I drive my car hard, and I'm unrepentant about it. You gotta drive like that to get anywhere in this town (Los Angeles.) Could the new plate have anything to do with this?

I'll answer any questions via email. Thanks for your time.

you might wanna check the bottom side of the hood over the battery... if it looks like it might be a little charred you might be grounding out just slightly, try putting a rubber piece over the battery posts and terminals...I just recently had this happen to me and I melted through the battery terminal all together.

UPDATE: Strange problem with '81 280ZX

Okay, I tracked this down, and here's what was going on:

The main lead from my battery's positive terminal to my subwoofer had corroded (all the way through) mere millimeters away from where it connected. The upshot of this was that everything worked just fine until I took hard right corners at speed, at which point the corroded wire would lose contact with the terminal and ground out on the frame.

My solution has been to replace the lasy 8" of the original wire (which was lousy-quality, badly-insulated, flimsy copper braid) with some serious cable. Yes, duct tape was involved.

Thanks to everyone who sent in their helpful tips.
