Stock sway bar size?
Does anyone know what size the stock sway bar is... 22mm or 23mm?
I'm getting ready to order the Tokico Advanced Handling kit and might as well do the bushings while I'm up under there. Shox.com wants to know what size the sway bar is before I order. |
I believe stock front is 7/8" rear is 3/4"
usual upgrade is just a front 1" and a rear 7/8" Nismo still sells the front bar which is 1/18" thick. to be honest though, if I were you, I'd only upgrade the front bar, especially if your car tends to oversteer as it is (stiffer rear bar will only worsen things) |
1/18" thick!? Holy shit!
My stock sways where 22mm but I also have an older 2+2 |
lol *1 1/8" thick
|
If a 2+2 has 22mm... Then would my car have 23mm? That doesn't sound right....
|
I think the 23mm is for the later turbo models that had the upgraded suspension.
|
Sweet. Thank you, sir.

I ordered the sway bars from MSA, powdercoated gun metal. i'd have to say when matched with poly bushings. it's a huge improvement. of course i replaced the ball joints and tie rod ends at the same time.
|
I'm considering stepping up to larger sway bars too. But, if our cars understeer with the stock set up, then wouldn't installing a larger front sway bar only make matters worse?
|
There really shouldn't be a reason your car understeers, what kind of tires do you have? my friend had some super shitty tires, then I let him borrow my Falken 912's and he said the car turns like it's supposed to now.
also, what suspension are you on right now? still stock stuff? |
Right now my tires are garbage. I had read in the old road tests that these cars understeer. I'm redoing my suspension, front and back. I had figured putting larger sway bars at both ends would help.
