this is true mostly i know if i could get ahold of a turbo z i that i would do it in a heartbeat but 280zx turbos dont go cheap around here and not that often, but getting power out of a sbc is pretty cheap, at least the first couple horseys

It was mentioning that you shouldn't waste time with Turbocharging the L28E as it adds weight, piping, and complication, etc. It was in my opinion a really bad way to try to sway people to the SBC. If you find an SBC that's been built some then you're probably good to go. It seems like if you have a L28ET in your car then putting a stock SBC won't make much difference when you could just up the boost some.
Yeah. The guy I bought my engine from only used his for racing around the track. Was in an old chevy monza.

I couldn't possibly get more bang for my buck. He wanted 2k for it, and he had pumped up the horsepower to about 450 with all his upgrades. So considering the hp of my car was eh...160 tops. I just nearly tripled my hp for 2k. It would cost a phenomenal amount of money to do that with another engine. Plus old chevy's are really easy to work on.

The mechanics down here wanted around 3500 to rebuild my engine. So when compared with 2k for my new engine, not even 1k for the extra stuff needed to install. This was a much better choice.

Also, even a stock SBC has around double the hp the l28 does. You just need to look for deals.

Turbo kits alone can run a couple of grand. And you wont be getting that much hp out of it. Plus the normal l2 can't even handle one. You'd have to buy a new engine anyway. So **** it lol.

i agree, the L28E is a small engine and isnt capable of all to much horse power. its great for someone that wants a fast car and a daily driver but mines going to be a quarter mile car ontop of a car that i can continue to build on and make better and faster thoughout the years.

Dunno... have you not seen MSA / BDA / Courtesy Parts / Nissan / Nismo? There's plenty of performance stuff for the L series motor...

well from the guy doing the swap, make sure you got the rack and pinion steering, im now swapping it out due to the dang huge steering box hanging off the frame rail. i really dont care what engine who puts in there cars to make what power. ive done the rx7 swap with 475, its nuts. its just all about your personal style of the car, inside and out. you just stick whatever mechanical subsitue you want underneigth the whole thing. thats my view. i too like the l6, but its gonna be sweet test driving zachs car. then giving him his first ride, bring diapers

If that's your 82-83 280zx in your avatar pic, then most likely you do have rack & pinion.

that is a rack....
Power steering I believe was mostly on 1980-81. Its fairly rare.

Not as rare as manual rack steering in 1979.
